Pumpkins!!
Farmer John grows approximately 35 acres of pumpkins. He grows them in all different shapes and sizes, some are white, some buckskin but most of them are orange.
Pumpkins are planted late May to early June depending on the weather.
The growing time for pumpkins is 90 to 120 days.
Therefore, we will have tons of pumpkins for you to choose from when you come to the farm in the fall. You can pick your own out of the fields or choose from our huge selection in the pumpkin corral.
PUMPKIN UPDATE: JULY, 2008
So far this summer Farmer John is very excited about his pumpkin crop. He keeps telling me everyday how beautiful his pumpkins look. The vines are starting to run and we have brought in 40 colonies of bees for pollination. Our farm hands have laid out drip tape for irrigation on the pumpkins but luckily we have not had to use this. They laid approximately 30 miles of drip tape and it took our crew 3 days to complete this task. The first pumpkins are starting to bloom and they are off and growing. I will be sure to keep you updated on Farmer John’s perfect pumpkins!!
We look forward to seeing you at the farm this fall.
